About Me
My love for pottery began as a small child making salt dough sculptures in the kitchen with my mum and siblings. Being creative was always something I saw as a hobby and didn’t become a career aspiration until much later when studying ceramics and surface design techniques on a Fine Art Practice Higher National Diploma (HND). This is where I fell in love with the tactile nature of clay and it’s never ending possibilities with decoration.
With a professional background in community engagement followed by teaching Art, Design, Fashion & Textiles for 10+ years, it was inevitable, natural progression that I would find myself connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with clay through the means of tasters, workshops and short courses.
As an educator my greatest thrill is watching the “wow” and “ah-ha!” moment that a person has when I am mentoring them. It’s a front row seat of watching someone’s joy and inner-child rediscovering play and creativity. My favourite thing I hear in my workshops is “it’s like my brain has gone completely silent and I’ve thought of nothing but this clay for 2 hours!”
About Haus of Banshee
I’m also a passionate maker, and Haus of Banshee is my ceramic homewares brand, specialising in what I would categorise as alternative, sub-culture pottery. On my creative journey I was always disappointed to find that there wasn’t the style of pottery that fit my interests and aesthetic, and if there was, it was often cheap, mass produced, low quality wares. So I decided to make it myself.
My work is inspired by gothic, witchy aesthetics, tattoo culture and a sprinkling of cult movies and Dungeons & Dragons nerd life. I sell my work online and the shop in my Brackley studio. I also sell around the country at a variety of markets and conventions. Here are just a few examples of where I have sold in person.
